A swollen gum can be from a bone defect between or around the tooth roots. This is a sign of periodontal disease and should be treated. The dead tooth should be extracted or treated with a root canal. Unfortunately, many dead teeth don't hurt. This is why it is important to have regular dental x-rays and be aware that a swollen gum remedy at home may not be the best thing to do. A swollen gum can be caused by an erupting wisdom tooth. Sometimes the tooth above bites the tissue and causes pain. You should definitely seek immediate dental care, so that you can keep your teeth and prevent any further damage.
